The area

On the South Cornish coast Fowey is a vibrant sailing centre surrounded by beautiful countryside with sandy beaches at Polkerris which has both a pub and a restaurant on the beach and at Readymoney Cove.

It is perfect for families and for those who love water-based activities – Fowey Maritime Centre provides tuition for yachts and ribs and can organise charter trips. One of the highlights of the year is the Royal sailing regatta.

There is easy access to the national rail network from the nearby town of Par and this is a great area for cycling.

The town centre boasts a wide range of designer and independent shops, restaurants to suit all tastes and pubs full of character.

A passenger ferry makes regular trips across the River Fowey to the adjacent village of Polruan and a car ferry gives easy access to the popular resorts of Polperro and Looe.

Local attractions include the Eden Project and the coast-to-coast 30 mile walking trail from Fowey to Padstow.

One of the most popular events of the year is the Fowey Festival.
